Laura Freeburn joined Piasecki Funeral Home after an accomplished career in language and education that spanned more than two decades. Originally from Lincolnshire, Illinois, Laura’s journey has taken her around the world — from Scotland to Germany to Canada — before she and her family made Wisconsin their home in 2014.
For over twenty years, Laura worked as a professional translator from German to English, specializing in art-related projects. Her translations appear in books and exhibition texts for major museums, including the Belvedere in Vienna. In addition to her translation work, Laura has shared her passion for languages by teaching French, German, and Spanish to both adults and children in a variety of settings.
Making a meaningful mid-life career change, Laura now feels honored to serve families as part of Piasecki Funeral Home’s compassionate team. She is deeply committed to helping others through some of life’s most difficult moments and to ensuring that every service provides a fitting tribute to loved ones.
Laura holds a degree in German Language and Literature from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and is now pursuing the professional training required to assist families with their peace of mind through advance funeral planning. She is currently enrolled in the Agent for Burial Agreements licensure course and the State of Wisconsin Insurance Agent licensure course, preparing to join Piasecki Funeral Home’s dedicated and caring preplanning team as her role expands.
Outside of work, Laura and her husband enjoy life in Burlington with their three daughters. Together, they share a love of hiking, music, and learning about nature. Laura is a member of St. Charles Parish in Burlington, serves on the Burlington-Lyons Parish Council, and is also a member of the American Translators Association.
