Ronald L. “Ron” Johnson

Ronald L. “Ron” Johnson, age 88, a lifelong resident of Kenosha, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018.
Ron was born on June 2, 1929, the son of the late Jule (Bostetter) Johnson. He was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School.
On June 19, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, he married the love of his life Elizabeth “Betty” Gruber. They were blessed with four children, Nancie (Raymond) Quiroz, James Johnson, Judy (Patrick) Willems, and Michael (Jody Erbe) Johnson.
Ron was employed as an electronic technician with Eaton-Dynamatic Corporation, retiring after 45 years of service. On a part time basis, he was also employed at Sunnyside TV Store. He was a previous member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Lodge #34.
In 1978, Ron was elected Alderman of the Kenosha County 12th District and held that position for 5 years. He then was elected to the County Board of Supervisors. He proudly served on the County Board for over three decades. Throughout the years, he served on various Committees and Boards for the County. Some of the boards he was on included the Public Welfare Board, County and City Library Boards, Kenosha County Historical Society, United Way, and Senior Aides. He was particularly proud of the hand he had in helping to create the Youth in Governance program. After 32 years of servicing the community as a County Supervisor, he retired at the age of 86. Ron continued to be on the board of Brookside Care Center until the time of his death.
Ron was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. He enjoyed reading, gardening, coin and stamp collecting, traveling the United States and watching Indy and NASCAR racing.
Ron is survived by his four children, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty and his brother, Gene.
Service Info
Funeral Services honoring Ron’s life will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 4817 7th Avenue. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for the Mass. Interment will follow in St. George Cemetery.

Ellen KupferSo sorry to see this. Ron was a wonderful man. I remember our families getting together at your family home when I was very young as he and my dad, BIll were good friends. Meeting him again on the KCLS board the last few years made me appreciate is dedication to public service. Again, sorry for everyone's loss

Mike SerpeRon was a kind and gentleman. It was my pleasure to know him for over thirty years and he was an absolute delight to be with. Ron had the longest fuse of anyone I've ever known. I really can't recall him get angry about anything, unless it involved an insult to family and friend. People like Ron are very rare and his presence in my life is something I'll always be thankful for. My love and sympathy to Ron's family and friends.
