Marlene Joy Birchell, owner of Burr Oaks Greenhouse, passed away at the age of 73 on April 6, 2021 at her residence.
Born on April 29, 1947, Marlene was the daughter of the late James and Merab (Colwell) Reagan. She was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School in 1965.
On September 10, 1966, Marlene was united in marriage to Ron Birchell at Somers United Church of Christ. Together they found a special love, raised a family, and built a beautiful marriage.
Marlene and her husband own and operate Burr Oaks Greenhouse and Gifts. She enjoyed the smells of the greenhouse and getting her hands dirty while planting beautiful flowers. She loved her jewelry, ALL of her shoes, and collecting antiques. A favorite pastime of hers was watching the sun set from her kitchen table each evening.
She was known as a kind, generous woman always willing to help others. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Marlene is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ron Birchell, Sr.; her children, Ron Birchell, Jr. and Kim (Jason) Christensen. Her grandchildren, Riley and Paige Christensen were her greatest blessings. She is further survived by her sister, Connie Albright, her sisters-in-law Charlotte (Joe) Laba, Pat (Dave) Sielaff, brother-in-law, Richard (Jana) Birchell, nieces and nephews. She will also be missed greatly by many special friends (Mary) and her work family.
In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her brothers, Merle and Glenn and her in-laws, Bud and Dorothy Birchell.
Service Info
Funeral services honoring Marlene’s life will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the Piasecki Funeral Home.
Private interment will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
A visitation for Marlene will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to Somers Community Church, 9918 12th Street, Kenosha, WI 53144.
Due to public health concerns, and in compliance with CDC guidelines, only 50 people will be permitted to enter the funeral home at one time. Social distancing will be maintained and those in attendance are required to wear a face covering. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this difficult time.
