Marie Ruby Guzman, Ward "Bonnie," 86, of Waukegan, IL, peacefully entered eternal rest at Aurora Medical Center on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Marie was born on November 13, 1939, to John and Ruby Ward, Daniels. She was a graduate of Van Lear High School. Marie touched the lives of many with her welcoming and unwavering spirit. She was a dedicated union leader who was respected for her strong work ethic, unwavering commitment, and advocacy on behalf of her fellow workers. Marie will be remembered by many for the parties she gave, welcoming all with a warm smile and hospitality.

Marie found great joy working in her flower gardens, where she took pride in creating beautiful blooms, she always said she loved "beauty."

Marie is survived by her children: Daniel "Dan" Guzman, Rita Slager (Bob), Teressa Mays (Hank Sr.); grandchildren: Troy Slager, RaeAnna "Rae" Slager, Hank Mays Jr. (Heather), Joshua Mays (Jessica), Christa Mays, Ariella "Arie" Tucker (William), and her great grandchildren: Zoey, Veronica, Hank III, Rebecca, Harmony, Judah, L.A., Jubilee, Mercy, Caleb and Nathan.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Juan "Johnny" Guzman; her partner, Richard "Dick" Kuntar; her brothers, Clyde Ward, Glen Ward, Vernon "Blue" Ward and Garry Ward and her beloved pet, Fluffy.
