Margaret A. Ungemach
February 18, 1959 -
January 2, 2021

Margaret A. (Meg) Ungemach, 61, lost her struggle with COVID and passed from this life, peacefully and in the blessed hope of resurrection in Christ to eternal life, at her home in Michiana Shores, Indiana.
Margaret Ann Ungemach was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on February 18, 1959 to Edward C. and Margaret E. (Scharf) Ungemach, Jr. She was adopted into the family of God in the waters of Christian baptism on February 21, 1959 at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kenosha, Wisconsin. On May 20 of 1973 Margaret publicly confessed her faith in Christ in the rite of Christian Confirmation at the church of her baptism. She was born unto eternal life on Saturday morning, January 2 of 2021.
Meg grew up on the south side of Kenosha. She attended Friedens Lutheran School and graduated from Shoreland Lutheran High School in 1977. In May of 1981, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Dr. Martin Luther College of New Ulm, Minnesota and was then assigned to the elementary grades of Good Shepherd Lutheran School of Downers Grove, Illinois. Meg’s career as a Lutheran educator and church musician of more than thirty years then progressed through positions at Good Shepherd of Burnsville, Minnesota then St. Paul, Tomah, Wisconsin out to Mt. Calvary, Redding, California back to St. Paul of Muskego, Wisconsin and finished at Trinity, Union Grove, Wisconsin. In her years of retirement, she continued to offer her musical talents to her congregations in southeastern Wisconsin, Northern Indiana and Southwestern Michigan. She also taught piano lessons and played piano for dance studios along her path through life.
In her last year’s Meg resided in one of her very favorite places, Michiana Shores, where she also thoroughly enjoyed working in Customer Care for Bozak Honda of Michigan City, Indiana. Her love for music, nature, hiking, snow, and the water made the southern shores of Lake Michigan an ideal place to spend her retirement years near her wonderful longtime friends, Ken & Jacqueline Hull.
Meg is survived by her siblings Laura (Michael) Loescher of Osceola, Wisconsin, Kristina (David) Paustian of Charlotte, North Carolina, Miriam (John) Paustian of West Bend, Wisconsin, Edward (Amy) Ungemach III of Trevor, Wisconsin and Joel (Carrie) Ungemach of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, her many nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews; her Aunt Marian Wallig of Kenosha; her Uncle Eugene (Ingrid) Ungemach of Palm Coast, Florida; her many cousins and a blessed lifetime full of friends.
Meg was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
The family wishes to thank the pastors of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of Burlington, Wisconsin for assisting the family with Meg’s funeral.

Susan GroszMy condolences to all of Meg's family. I was privileged to have worked with Meg during her first call to Good Shepherd in Downers Grove. We spent many hours together learning and teaching God's little lambs. It was a wonderful time. Keep her in your hearts; she will be in mine. God's blessings to you all.

Ann and Robert MayersDear family of Margaret Although Robert and I didn’t know Margaret personally we do know her through Jackie and Ken. She knew my mum and very kindly wrote to us when we lost my mum back in 2019. We really appreciated such a kind letter and know Margaret had a kind caring heart. May it help to know that we are thinking of you at this very sad time. Taken too soon. Ann and Robert Mayers

Arnold and Judy BousleyI had the privilege of teaching with Meg at Good Shepherd, Burnsville, MN. We worked closely as I was called to teach part time, pulling out her 2nd graders for part of the morning. She was very supportive and helped me get back into teaching after having 10 years off to raise our children. She also was a dedicated teacher to our two children for 1st and 2nd grade. We remained friends after she left Good Shepherd for several years, but sadly, lost touch later. I look forward to seeing her again one day where there will be no more sadness or pain. Well done, Meg.

Rich & Zoe LatschAll 3 of our children were taught by Miss U. in their early elementary years. She was an outstanding teacher who dearly cared about her students & provided them with an excellent Christian education as did the other staff at Good Shepherd in Downers Grove. We will miss you Miss U. but know that you are in heaven with our risen Savior where we all look forward to a grand reunion forever.

Pastor Emeritus Gerald SchroerContinued: Not sure what happened. Message was complete when submitted. Just wanted to acknowledge Meg's willingness to serve and her humble trust in Jesus. The suddenness of her death startles us, but the suddenness of her entrance to heaven's glory must have amazed her with an amazement that will never end. "To God be the glory, great things He has done..."

Pastor Emeritus Gerald SchroerAlthough we already knew brother Joel from his years at Michigan Lutheran High School, it was in the last couple years that we got to know Meg as a member of St. Paul's, Stevensville, MI. Talking with her after church and thanking for serving as one of our organists gave me a bitof isi

Kurt & Brenda RosenbaumMargaret joined my staff at Good Shepherd in Burnsville and we enjoyed five years together there. Solid, unwavering, and dependable are adjectives that come to mind instantly when thinking about our time serving together. She was a frequent visitor at our home as well, and we had many fun evenings of dinner and games. While it was a shock to know of her departure, it is a celebration to know that another saint has received her crown of life...what a victory.

Carrie PahsOh Margaret, there aren’t enough characters in this box to explain how much I will miss you. Your gentle voice, and sweet, caring self... will be missed greatly by your work family @Bosak Honda. I will never forget your laugh, or kind words when I needed them. You couldn’t hurt a fly, or a mouse (inside joke, you know Margaret). You loved your cup of coffee in the morning, at the beginning of a work day. I loved bringing you little gifts, and you appreciated them so much- the smallest gesture, put a smile on your face. You are greatly missed, and there is a big hole @ Bosak without you. I know god called you to heaven when he was ready. You will forever be in my heart. I’m glad to have spent the last few years with you. May you rest in Gods arms now. Love you, Margaret “Meg”
