Lorraine Monica (Zens) Lewis, 91, of Kenosha, died on November 27, 2014 at Brookside Care Center surrounded by her six children.
Born on October 31, 1923, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mamie (Rutkowski) Zens.
Lorraine worked in the office of Cooper’s (Jockey) after graduating from Mary D. Bradford High School. When the children were older, she returned to work at Gateway Technical Institute in the Admissions Office.
Lorraine married Warren E. Lewis on May 3, 1945 at Westover Field, MA. They returned to Kenosha to start a business (Globe Roofing Co.) and raise a family of six children. Setting down roots, Warren and Lorraine built a house and life together, celebrating 62 years of marriage.
Lorraine was a lifelong resident of Kenosha and member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She developed deep friendships that were sustained throughout her life as they raised their children, sewed and knitted, danced in celebration, played endless rounds of bridge, and supported each other as they shared life’s joys and sorrows.
Above and beyond all else, Lorraine cherished and devoted herself to her family, laying a solid foundation upon which a lifetime of beautiful memories were built and sustained.
She is survived by her six children, Susan (Norman) Ballmer, Kathryn (David) Braun, and Warren (Mary) Lewis, Jr., all of SC, Elizabeth (J. Deborah (Lewis) SnowtalaDear Aunt Lorraine, The last time I saw you was on your 80th birthday when I brought my newly adopted daughter, Lyndsey, to meet you and Uncle Warren at your house. She was 6 months old then...now she's 11. I will always remember Uncle Warren getting down on his hands and knees to play with Lyndsey. It struck me how much you two really loved children, and it really showed. Thanks for that memory! Even though we didn't see each other much, I also remember going to your house as a child during the holidays and playing with all my cousins. You were always such a lovely hostess and I always remember everyone having such a good time. You surely loved all kids, and you were loved by many. You will be missed. God bless you; may you rest in eternal peace. With much love, Debbi (Lewis) Snowtala
