May 25, 2018

Laurie (nee: Gerlach) Lange, age 62 of Kenosha, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Zilber Family Hospice, Wauwatosa, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Kenosha on September 17, 1955, she was the daughter of Donald and Carole (Larson) Gerlach.
She was a 1973 graduate of George N. Tremper High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
On August 2, 1975 she was united in marriage to Tim Lange.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church.
Laurie was employed in her early years at Paielli's Bakery. She then worked as a teller and in the mortgage department at the Kenosha Savings and Loan and Advantage Bank from 1973 to 1981.
Laurie was a stay-at-home mom while her kids were young which allowed her to often volunteer at her children's schools. She was an officer in the Jane Vernon Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization and was active in the Kenosha Band Boosters organization. Laurie often chaperoned for the Continental Band, Rambler Band and the Band of the Black Watch. She also served as treasurer for the Band of the Black Watch and enjoyed many long bus trips with the Band.
Family was a large part of Laurie's life. The lights of Laurie's life were her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping in Wisconsin State Parks, often with her extended family. Laurie enjoyed traveling to warm climates which usually involved a beach chair, the sun and the sand and a drink in her hand. Laurie also enjoyed being outside tending to her flower gardens. Over the years, Laurie gained an appreciation for Major League Baseball and the National Football League cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers.
She is survived by her husband, Tim Lange; their three children, Jennifer (Joe) Thurmer, Jeff (Kristin) Lange and Michelle (Jeff) Walter; six grandchildren, Logan and Lucas Thurmer, Evan and Preston Lange and Aaron and Hailey Walter; her father, Donald Gerlach; and her siblings, Alan (Kerry) Gerlach, Gary (Mary) Gerlach, Janice (Steve) Klopstein, and David (Diane) Gerlach.
Laurie was preceded in death by her mother, Carole in August of 2017.

Carolyn Van BeckumI am so sorry about Laurie's passing. She was my good friend in junior and senior high school. We had some great times in band and a trip to Jamaica. I remember the day Laurie asked Tim to the Sub Deb formal in high school, which started their relationship. So glad you said yes, Tim. Looks like you had a good life together, wonderful children and grandchildren. I have often thought about her over the years. Tim, Don and your family are in my prayers.

Gail BedoreLaurie, one of the BEST mom’s I ever had around as a teacher while at Vernon Elementary. She raised three loving, considerate, and well educated children as teachers were all dearly loved having them with us during our days teaching. I hope you find your beach chair, sand and have a drink in your hand watching those beautiful blue waves keep rolling in. God bless you and keep you. Mrs. B
