Jonathan L. Helton
April 11, 1987 -
April 17, 2026

US Veteran
After a life lived in service to the Lord, CPT Jonathan Helton, age 39, departed this earthly life for his eternal home on Friday, April 17, 2026.
He was born on April 11, 1987, to Lawerence J. Helton Jr. in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of Shoreland Lutheran High School in Somers, WI.
He was a devoted husband, proud Army veteran, and man of deep and unwavering faith.
He married the love of his life, April Mae, on July 16, 2011, at Wolfenbuttel Park in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Married 14 1/2 years, their love for one another only grew each day.
Jonathan honorably served his country in the United States Army for 17 years, before being medically retired in 2026. Completing tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia, and Fort Knox, Kentucky. He also attended Marquette University and UW-Parkside ROTC program, where he was commissioned to become an officer. His courage, sacrifice, and dedication reflected his deep commitment to protecting others and standing for what he believed in.
At the center of Jonathan's life was his faith in Jesus Christ, which guided him in all things and gave him strength through every season of life. He lived his beliefs through kindness, compassion, and love for those around him.
Jonathan was also a passionate Wisconsin sports fan, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams. He found joy in video games, where he could relax, have fun, and connect with friends. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family-the moments that meant the most to him.
Jonathan will be remembered for his bravery, his faith, his goofy sense of humor, his selflessness, and the love he gave so freely. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will live on in the lives he touched.
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
He is survived by his beloved wife, April Mae Helton; his father and mother-in-law, Jeff and Michelle Hansen; his grandmother, Jan Helton; his siblings, Lawerence Helton III, Kristina Helton, Michael Dettwiler, Michelle Dettwiler; his brother-in-law, Bradley Morelli; his uncle and aunt, Terry and Debbie Helton; his nephews and niece, Brian, Landan, William and Brielle; his beloved cat, Tango Charlie. Along with many other loved family members.
Jonathan was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lawerence Helton Sr; his father, Lawerence J. Helton Jr.; great grandparents, Clyde and Jane McConathy and Irene and Jasper Helton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to April Mae Helton would be appreciated.

April 22, 2026Jonathon started high school the same time that I was called to Shoreland Lutheran High School. In fact, Jonathon was on the freshman basketball team that I coached that year. Jonathon always had a smile on his face, and always gave a great effort, whether in practice or a game. He was a pleasure to coach and a joy to have in the classroom. He was also a very respectful young man. My thoughts and prayers are with his family!

April 21, 2026It's me, one of his nephews. I didn't expect for him to pass so soon, but I knew it was bound to happen sometime. He was the greatest uncle, the best. I wish I could've seen him one more time, but it's okay. I love him lots.

April 21, 2026I had the privilege and honor to serve with Jonathan while stationed at Ft. Stewart. He always kept a positive attitude and knew the best way to lighten the mood in tense situations. He was a great soldier that I knew that had great potential to be a great leader. One of the proudest moments of his life was when he married April. His love for her knew no bounds.
Till Valhalla my brother...

April 21, 2026You will be missed more than words can say. You became a part of our family and we were better for it. Renee and Robin lost a sibling, and we lost someone we loved as much as our own kids. Until we meet again....
