Jerry L. Thomas, Sr., age 76 of Kenosha, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, July 2, 2015.
Born in Warren, AR on December 29, 1938, he was the son of the late William and Vera (Ingram) Thomas. Jerry attended local schools in Arkansas and moved from Arkansas to make Kenosha his home in 1961.
On August 22, 1963 in Waukegan, IL, he was united in marriage to Helen Williams.
Jerry was employed with General Motors retiring in 1992. He also worked for Chrysler and Eaton.
He was a member of Second Baptist Church and in his spare time, was always cleaning his car. He loved his family and especially cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Helen; his three children, Cynthia (Anthony) Powell, Sr. of Kenosha, LySandra (Orrin) Owens of Highland Springs, VA and Jerry (Lorien) Thomas, Jr of Kenosha; his five grandchildren, Brittney Powell, Anthony Powell, Jr., Derek Tucker, Sidney and Johnathan Thomas and his 4 great-grandchildren, Kenton Dunn, Justice, Amara and Mya Powell.
He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Maxcine (Derrick) Steppes, Gloria Albright, Lewis Thomas, Willie L. Thomas, Curtis W. Schuler and Vera Jean Smith along with many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to Jerry’s parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Willie M. Thomas, Maxie Thomas and William E. Thomas.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ikram Rashid and his staff along with granddaughter, Brittney Powell; for the special care they gave Jerry.
Service Info
A Home Going Service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 3925 32nd Avenue. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery.
