US Veteran
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald E. Hackbarth, who passed away at Ascension All Saints Hospital-Racine on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the age of 82 surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 14, 1943, to Edwin and Isabelle (Arendt) Hackbarth. He was a graduate of Greendale High School. Gerald was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend, whose warm spirit touched the lives of many.
From 1965 until 1969 he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
He was employed as Land Surveyor with Milwaukee County.
Gerry enjoyed hunting, fishing cooking and spending time with the family. No one could whip up a meal like Gerry — his kitchen creations will be sorely missed and fondly remembered. Gerry’s exceptional culinary expertise enriched every gathering — his absence will be felt at every table.
Gerry leaves behind his cherished wife, Michelle, his children, Shelley (Mike) Linderman, Tracy Monce, Chris (Kim) Hackbarth and Nicole Hackbarth; his stepchildren, Stacy Strickland, Steffany Caputo; his grandchildren, Amanda Starkey, Robbie Reed, Allison Frounfelter, Ron Monce, Dan Monce, Zack, Charlie and Henry Hackbarth; his siblings, Joanne Henegar, Robert "Bobby" Hackbarth, Sally Provencher and Eddie Hackbarth and beloved pets, Willow, Riley and Sawyer. Gerry’s strong character, gentle humor, and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed not only by his family but by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Hackbarth.
