Gale E. Strohkirch, age 79, of Rockton, WI passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Hospice Alliance, Pleasant Prairie following a short battle with brain cancer.
She was born September 17, 1945, in Waukegan, Illinois a daughter of Douglas Wait and Dorothy (Harvey Wait) Davis.
Gale graduated from Crandon High School in Crandon, WI. In 1966 she met Jerome “Jerry” Strohkirch in Waukegan, Illinois. They wed March 24, 1967, in Waukegan, Illinois.
Gale and Jerry welcomed two daughters, Charlene Lois on May 21, 1968, and Tina Marie on June 28, 1970. They had fun camping, going on road trips, and visiting family and friends.
Gale worked at Jockey in Kenosha for many years. After retiring Gale and Jerry moved to the Rockton/LaFarge area to enjoy the quiet life, after living in Kenosha since 1975.
Gale enjoyed her daughters and grandchildren, wildlife, casinos, going for drives, playing computer games, watching her favorite shows, and socializing with friends at her favorite bar, River’s End in Ontario. She will be dearly missed by anyone who knew her. She was a very spirited person who made everyone smile and laugh.
Survivors include daughters, Charlene (Jim) Nikolai of Pleasant Prairie, Tina (Jeff) Holland of Chandler, AZ.; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Nathan (Sarah), Hunter (Tammy), Jeromy Nikolai, Danielle (Ryan) Racca, Tynes and Austin Holland; great-grandchild, Augie Nikolai; step-sister, Karen Daniels and many nieces, nephews, and a host of many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome “Jerry” Strohkirch; her parents, Douglas (Lily) Wait, Dorothy Wait-Davis; brothers, Roger Wait and Douglas Wait and half-sister, Lori Weit
Service Info
As per Gale’s request, no public funeral or memorial service will be held. Instead, her family will hold a private celebration of life.
