
David L. Menke
November 17, 1938 -
April 3, 2026

David Lawrence Menke, a beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on November 17, 1938, to the late Theodore and Sarah (Hoy) Menke in Lexington, NE. He was a graduate of Cozad High School in NE and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska. David lived a life filled with adventure, love, and passion.
On October 8, 1960, he was united in marriage to Greta Lundstrom in South Pasadena, CA.
David was a dedicated system analyst in the I.T. industry, where his analytical mind and problem-solving skills touched many lives and helped shape the technology we use today. A true outdoorsman at heart, David found joy in fishing, hunting, and making lures, often sharing these experiences with his family and friends. He was good identifying mushrooms and trees. Snowmobiling and traveling brought him immense happiness, allowing him to explore the world and create lasting memories.
He was a member of the Wisconsin Mycological Society, Parkside Mycological Club, Nature Conservancy, SIERRA Club, NRA and Conservation Club of Kenosha County. Among his many contributions, he was especially proud of his work with Trout Unlimited, helping to rehabilitate trout habitats. He also was a member of International Institute of Business Analysis, Sharing Center and served on the Committee for fundraising of the KAC alongside his wife Greta.
David leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" (Greg Trotter) Menke; his siblings, Norman Menke, Philip (Dixie) Menke, Stephanie Snyder and Stephen (Sandy) Menke.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Greta Menke; grandson, Jacob David Trotter; sisters-in-law, Trisha Menke and Nancy Menke; brother-in-law, Walter Snyder.
Private funeral services honoring the life of David will be held in Nebraska.
