Arlene Inger Maxwell, 87, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.  Born March 26, 1939, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Arlene married Russell W. Maxwell in 1960. Together they shared more than 65 years of marriage, raising their family and living and working in Kenosha throughout their lives.

Arlene was a thoughtful, generous, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. To anyone who knew her, it was obvious she treasured her relationships, remembering all of life's milestones with cards, calls, gifts, and words of encouragement.  An avid reader and baker, Arlene found great joy in sharing books, recipes, and homemade treats with family and friends. Whether recommending a favorite author, telling a story, or offering a thoughtful idea, she delighted in bringing warmth and a little extra brightness to the lives of others.   She made people feel remembered, appreciated, and loved—a gift that will live on in all who knew her.

Arlene worked as a nurse at Kenosha Memorial Hospital and in the offices of Dr. S. Feldy, Dr. B. Wirfs, and Dr. Fevzi Pamukcu. She was deeply appreciated by her coworkers and patients, many of whom remained lifelong friends.

A longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church, she participated in the Women's group and many church activities beginning in the 1960s. She also volunteered with Mobile Meals of Kenosha for more than 25 years.

Nothing brought Arlene greater joy than her relationships with family and friends, which she cultivated with time and loving attention.  She was especially excited to meet her first great-grandchild.

She is survived by her children, Kris (Kerry) Kravik, Diane (Gregory) Splinter, and Mark Maxwell; her grandchildren, Kendra (Zach) Tegtmeier, Kirstin (Jeremy Price) Kravik, Heron Splinter, Mira Splinter, and Carson Tegtmeier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, parents and many loved ones.

Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers/memorials, please honor Arlene's memory by performing a random act of kindness or writing a note of appreciation to someone.

Her family is deeply grateful to the many friends and relatives who supported Arlene and Russ in their later years.  Thank you to the Horizon Hospice Alliance and Brookside Care Center for assistance with care and comfort at the end of her journey.  A special thank you to Gay Nordquist, whose extraordinary care made everything better.
