Joseph A. Schmitt, age 76, of Kenosha, WI died October 2, 2024, after a long illness, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born on July 17, 1948, the son of the late John and Margaret (Dorau) Schmitt.  On October 28, 1972, he was united in marriage to Nanette Bodven and spent over 51 years together.  The couple went on to have three children.

He graduated from St. Joseph High School and went on to start a journeyman mason apprenticeship at Riley Construction.  He worked for many local companies for the next 44 years and was a lifetime member of Local 4 and International Union of Bricklayers.

After retiring, Joseph pursued more time with his grandkids.

Survived by his wife, Nanette; his children Renee (Steve) Milne, Mt. Pleasant, Austin Schmitt, Belvidere, IL, Denise (Emil) Daniels, Paddock Lake; his grandchildren Hannah, Ellie, Ean and Margaret "Maggie"; his brother, John Schmitt; his sister, Carol Edwards; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by his brother Thomas, and twin sisters Margaret and Mary.
