Dorthy M. Stanton, age 88 of Kenosha, died on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at United Hospital Systems-Kenosha Hospital Campus, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on November 27, 1928 in Centerville, IA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ethel (Main) Houser.
She attended schools in Centerville and received her degree in Education from Centerville Junior College.

On September 16, 1951 in Iowa, she was united in marriage to Carlton Stanton.

Dorthy was a dedicated wife and mother. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Kenosha Soup Kitchen.

She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church. Dorthy was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crocheting.

Dorthy is survived by her husband of 65 years, Carlton Stanton; her four children, Deborah (Steve) Nelson, Kathryn (Paul) Mac Gillis, Stephen (Linda) Stanton and Karen (Dwayne) Eastman; her sister, Doris Columbus; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Madaline Sager and a brother in childhood.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Stephen Feuerbach, Dr. Katherine Abbo, Dr. Joshua Bloom and Kenosha Hospital 3 Palmer Staff; especially Nurse Eileen for the exceptional care they provided.

that you picked and perfume that you wore.

She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the color of a rainbow.
She is the Christmas morning.
Your mother lives inside your laughter and is crystalized in every tear drop.
A mother shows every emotion…happiness, sadness, fear, jealousy,
love, hate, anger, helplessness, excitement, joy, sorrow
and all the while hoping and praying you will know the good feelings in life,
the place you came from, your first home, and she’s
the mom you follow with every step you take.
She’s your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy,
but nothing on earth can separate you;
not time, not space, not even death!
