He was born in New Edinburg, Arkansas on May 6, 1937. He was the son of the late Howard and Annie Mae (Marks) Tolefree. In 1958, he graduated from Bradley County High School in Warren, Arkansas and later earned his CNC Programmer Diploma at Gateway Technical College in Kenosha.
On April 6, 1962 in Kenosha, he was united in marriage to Mamie Bennett.
Bobby was employed as a CNC Machinist with Eaton Dynamatic Corporation, retiring in 2002 after 35 years of service. He was previously employed with American Motors Corporation and Kenosha Hospital.
Bobby was a faithful man of God. For over 50 years, he was a member of Coleman Chapel, A.M.E. Church. He was a Steward, Sunday School Superintendent and was on the Finance Committee.
Bobby was known as a devoted husband, father and friend. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. Bobby will be remembered for his great sense of humor. He was also an avid Chicago Bear and Cubs fan, loved fishing and enjoyed eating great food.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mamie Tolefree; his children, Doris (Kenneth) Penister-Jordan, Debra (Terence) Penister-Gray, Bryce (Finny) Tolefree, Nina (Darren) Tolefree-Walton, Spencer Tolefree and Tracy Tolefree; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; his brothers, James and Truman Tolefree; his sister, Josephine Hines; and a host of nieces, nephews, Godchildren and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Service Date January 16, 2018
A Home Going Celebration honoring Bobby’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Mount Hebron – Church of God in Christ, 7445 20th Avenue. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery.
