Terry L. Houdek
July 13, 1946 -
February 6, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry L. Houdek, age 79, who passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026. Terry was born on July 13, 1946, to the late Edward and Mildred (Fritz) Houdek. He attended West Division High School and received a degree in Psychology and Education from UW–River Falls and received a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from UW–Stout.
On October 10, 1982, Terry married Barbara Falk. Though married for 19 years, their union and friendship continued for 44 years.
He dedicated 40 years of his career to serving as a Director of Sales and Marketing for Hyatt, Pfister, Hilton, Four Points Sheraton and Hampton Inn.
Terry was a funny, free-spirited, and often goofy soul who cherished time spent with family and friends. He loved all sports, but golfing was his true passion. Terry was known for saying, “We are only visitors on this earth, so live each day to its fullest,” a sentiment that reflected how he lived his life.
He is survived by his son, Brad Houdek; his daughter, Katie (Runako) Simmons; his former spouse, Barbara Houdek; his beloved grandchildren, Emmett and Eloise Simmons; and his cousins, Jim Fritz, Kathy Refsell, and Elaine Rowell.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mildred Houdek.
A special thank you to Gil Brickler, Laurie Fuhrman, and cousins, Roger Quabius and Tom Fritz for their friendship and support.

February 20, 2026Dear Katie, Brad and Barb, I’m very sorry to hear of Terry’s passing.. He loved you so much, and was always there for you, and you reciprocated by showing your love and support for him. May you find comfort that he is wrapped in God’s arms, with no more struggles or concerns, but celebrating with his loved ones, and sending love to each of you. In Christ, Mary D’Agostino
