October 14, 2026

Paul James Barrette, 86, of Kenosha passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at Brookside Care Center. Paul was born on May 19, 1940, to the late Lawrence 'Mickey' and Helen Barrette. He grew up in Lake Linden, Michigan (the U.P.).
On June 18, 1960, he married Clina Bezotte and had six boys, Jerry, John, Paul, Pat, Jim, and Joe. Clina and Paul later separated.
On June 7, 1980, he later married Shirley Gregory and she brought four stepchildren with her, Debbie, Tamara, Dogan, and Tracy.
In his early days, he graduated from Lake Linden High School where he excelled at football and basketball and loved to hunt and fish.
He moved to Kenosha in 1960 to work at American Motors where he worked for 11 years before joining the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department. He retired as a lieutenant at the age of 55 where he earned a great deal of respect for his compassion while enforcing the law.
Paul had a great sense of humor and was a great story teller. He loved watching football on Sundays with his kids. He was an avid Bears fan. Paul and Shirley enjoyed going to casinos and playing the slot machines. They also loved visiting with family and friends, and would sit at the kitchen table drinking coffee, playing games, or just talking for hours.
Paul is survived by his children, Jerry Barrette, John (Karen) Barrette, Patrick (Dianne) Barrette, Jim (Sherri) Barrette and Joe (Tammy) Barrette; his daughter-in-law, Linda Barrette; his siblings, Jim, Judy, Linda and Mary; his 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Helen Barrette; his wife, Shirley Barrette; his brother, Lawrence Barrette; his son, Paul Barrette and his granddaughter, Jenna Barrette.
Paul was a wonderful, loving husband, father, and grandfather and he will be greatly missed.
A special thanks to the staff of Brookside Care Center for the compassionate and excellent care they provided to Paul.

October 26, 2026Letter of Condolence: 2 Timothy 4:7-8 King James Version (KJV) 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. “Earth has no sorrow that heaven can’t heal” “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8) To the family of Paul James Barrette, I send my deepest sympathy in this difficult time. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, a good person and but also a good friend to everyone. Mr. Paul was a good person in his own special way, he share a lot of love to everyone he came in contact. He definitely, was a blessing to everyone always, which he was truly called a friend in deed. He was loved dearly by family, and friends. He was well known in the community. He also enjoyed family time. Gone to soon… but not forgotten. He transition home to glory, where he received his wings, he definitely will be missed, to all who knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughter- in-law, his siblings, nieces, and nephews, cousins, and the rest of the whole family, and friends. “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” (Psalm 30: 5) Rest in peace Mr. Paul; you’re now resting in the arms of Jesus. May God bless, strengthen and keep this family in perfect peace. Sincerely,
Brother Anthony Clark Jr. A member of (GPT) Greater Pentecostal Temple (KCK) under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Bishop Dr. Marvin E. Donaldson, Assistant Pastor: Suffragan Bishop Elder Tommie Hughes, and Lady Jacqueline Hughes
