Harvey L. “Bud” Spaulding, Jr., 90 of Kenosha, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Meadowmere Assisted Living, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Kenosha on March 27, 1925, the son of the late Harvey and Clara (Smith) Spaulding, Sr. He attended local schools and was a graduate from Kenosha High School.

On March 27, 1943, Harvey’s 18^th birthday, he was married to Irene Frederich. They were married for more than 70 years. Sadly on August 21, 2014, she preceded him in death.

During World War II, Harvey honorably served in the U.S. Navy Pacific Theatre as a Pharmacist Mate 2^nd Class Medic attached to the 2^nd Marine Division from 1943-1945.

In May, 2011, Harvey thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight and in October, 2013 participating in the Snap-On Tools sponsored Lone Eagle Honor Flight.

Harvey was employed at Snap-On Tools for 40 years starting as a Hammer Man in the Forge Shop and retiring as a Forge Shop Supervisor.

After Harvey retired, he enjoyed filling his time with his many hobbies. He was an avid woodworker. He made toys for children as well as furniture and decorations for the home. Harvey loved to travel with his wife in their camper. They were active in the Winnebago Camping Club and the Trailrunner Camping Club. They enjoyed spending their winters as “snow birds” wintering in Alabama and Florida and returning to Wisconsin each spring.

Harvey was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren and taking them on special outings camping, fishing and to baseball games.

He is survived by his two daughters, Linda Spaulding of Kenosha and Clara (Alan) Barry of The Villages, FL; his two sisters, Marion Pacetti and Grace Houston; his two brothers, Don (June) Spaulding and Darryl (Ruth) Spaulding; his two grandchildren, Michael (Jackie) Barry and Beth (Chad) Staus; and his three great grandchildren, Max and Mia Barry and Pearl Staus.

In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Irene, he was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Spaulding.

Service Info

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. and will conclude with full military honors at Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue. Inurnment will take place on Tuesday, April 21st at 9:00 a.m. in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove.
