Arthur B. “Art” Swartz, 87, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2018.
A lifelong Kenosha resident, he was born on June 11, 1930 and was the son of the late Frank and Anna (Margielewski) Swartz. Art attended local schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford in 1949.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was very active with the Navy Club Ship 40, the PLAV Post 34 and The Retired Enlisted Association (TREA) Post 65 in Somers.
On May 24, 1951 he married Ethel R. DeRango at St. Anthony Catholic Church. They were blessed with five children and 52 years of marriage. Sadly, Ethel passed away on January 16, 2004.
He was employed with the Wisconsin Electric Company as a lineman U.R.D. installer for over 35 years and was a member of the retired IBEW Local 2150.
A wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Art enjoyed gardening; especially sharing his homegrown tomatoes with everyone, traveling and was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fan! Art was a former member of St. George Catholic Church and a member of the Kenosha Moose Lodge # 286.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Gary Swartz of Chicago, Alan (Maureen) Swartz of Kenosha, Keith (Heidi) Swartz of Brookfield, David Swartz of Kenosha and Sandra Lewis of Williams Bay along with 6 grandchildren, Mara (Steve) Burke, A.J. Swartz, Traci (Nick) Diciaula, Tara Swartz, Robert (Ashley) Lewis and Laura Lewis and 4 great- children, Piper and Sloane Burke, Brady and Calvin Diciaula and a special friend, Arlene Liegakos.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Ethel, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Swartz.
Service Info
Funeral Services honoring Art’s life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018, beginning with a prayer service at 11:15 a.m. from the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 4817 7th Avenue. Private entombment will be held in All Saints Mausoleum.

pete kicaI met Arthur through his son David (my sister boyfriend). Most recently, Art spent this past Christmas Eve with us at my home. He always shared his many life long memories with us, and he could surely tell a tale or two ! Art will surely be missed by us all. My heartfelt condolences to David and the entire Swartz family on your loss. God's blessing to you all. Pete

Dave PaffArt was a great man and my family became good friends of his. My kids looked up to him as Mr. Art and Art was very kind and often gave the kids candies. He was a stalwart in the neighborhood and everybody loved him. He will be missed and I'd like to offer my condolences to Art's family and hope they find comfort and peace during this trying time. Art loved the service organizations he was a member of (The Moose Lodge, The Navy club and others) and always promoted veteran causes and events.
