Rosemary LaMantia (née Metten) passed away on December 3, 2018, after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Kenosha on August 15, 1956, the daughter of William L. and Basilla (née: Oster) Metten.
Educated in Kenosha public schools, she graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in June of 1974.
On May 20, 1978, Rosie married Daniel C. LaMantia, at Frieden’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenosha. He survives her. She is also survived by her stepsons Jeffrey, Roger and David LaMantia.
Rosie is further survived by her sisters, Charlene Groelle and Claudia (Charles) Wallig and her brothers, George (Anne) Metten and Daniel (Conor Hanrahan) Metten, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Rosie retired from Snap-on Tools Incorporated in January 1990, after working as lead computer operator (2nd shift) for 12 years. After retirement, she & her husband maintained a home in Kenosha, but wintered by touring the southern United States and residing in Silver Springs, Florida.
Rosie enjoyed gardening, animals, nature, snorkeling, motorcycling, bicycling, travelling in the United States and abroad, and was an avid reader. A talented Blue Ribbon award winning quilter and seamstress, she taught quilting classes at Sew & Save and was a member of the Boonies Quilting Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Christina V. Horton, and brother-in-law, Ed Groelle.
The family would like to give special thank you to Dr. Janet S. Rader and her team at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

Funeral Services honoring Rosemary’s life will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue, Kenosha, WI, 53144.
