Janine “Jan” (Ciotti) Buhnerkempe, age 66, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Froedtert in Kenosha. Sadly, her husband, Gerald Buhnerkempe, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Froedtert in Kenosha.
Born on September 6, 1955 in Kenosha, she was the daughter of Joseph and Virginia (Kessel) Ciotti.
On July 8, 1978, she was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” Buhnerkempe at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii Catholic Church in Kenosha. During their life together, Jan and her husband, Jerry sponsored a child overseas and shared their love for him throughout the years.
Jan met Jerry while caring for the elderly as an Activity Aide at Zion Nursing Home. She was passionate about her work as a Medical Assistant for Planned Parenthood, and later retired as a Bookkeeper from Northwest Drapery.
She had such a love for animals and rescued many dogs over the years. She also liked crafting, sewing and making jewelry.
Janine is survived by her siblings, Judy Werneski, George (Michelle) Ciotti, Jeff (Robin) Ciotti, Teresa (Robert) Matthews; her brother-in-law, Mike Buhnerkempe; her sister-in-law, Rosalie Buhnerkempe; her nieces, nephews and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Virginia; her brother-in-law, Jim Werneski, and several of her beloved furry animal family members.
Service Info
Memorial services honoring Janine's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022 in All Saints Cemetery, 3300 Springbrook Rd, Pleasant Prairie, WI.
The service will be streamed live on the Piasecki Funeral Home Facebook page. The livestream can be viewed by anyone (even those who do not have a Facebook account) at facebook.com/PiaseckiFuneralHome/live/.
Inurnment with full military honors will follow the service.
