March 4, 2024

Geraldine Joyce (Gerou) Wiercinski, age 94, passed away at her residence on Monday, March 4, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Baptist and Anna (Shakus) Gerou. She attended St. James Catholic School, Washington Elementary and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School and earned her apprenticeship with Grace Barnes in 1951.
On July 15, 1950 in Kenosha, WI, Geraldine was united in marriage to Edward Wiercinski.
Geraldine was employed as a Beautician for Madonna Beauty Salon, Cut and Curl Beauty Salon and Charm Beauty Salon, retiring in 2015.
She was an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
Gerry loved having her regular gatherings with the “Club.” Club members included eight close friends from work who gathered for a monthly luncheon and card game. The Neighborhood Ladies Club included eight close friends who all lived on the same 18th Avenue block. They met monthly at each other’s homes for potluck luncheons. She loved to travel and would do anything that involved any unconventional forms of flight. Geraldine enjoyed cooking and baking cookies or anything else in the kitchen for her kids and neighbor’s, sewing clothes for her children, listening to music especially Frank Sinatra; but most of all; she cherished the time spent with family and especially with her granddaughter.
She is survived by her children, Sue Ellen “Wiercinski” Runde, Debra Ann “Wiercinski” (Janee Townsend) Dillon and Thomas Alan (Corinna) Wiercinski and her granddaughter, Heather Marie Runde.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Gerry was preceded in death by her son, David Edward Wiercinski; her siblings, Delores Anna Greenwood, Louis Donald Gerou, June Ann Gerou and James Thomas Gerou and her son-in-law, Timothy Allen Runde.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lisa, Carol and Connie from Hospice Alliance for all of their compassionate, kind and loving care and support given to Geraldine.

Jack OstermanGoodbye Gerry; my mom will miss you. She was a member of the ladies club. In an assisted living facility, my mom may or may not remember Gerry; that is the circle of life. But they will meet again.

Stock FamilyI will only know this beautiful woman through her amazing son. Tom came into our lives a number of years ago, initially only known to us (affectionally referenced by my oldest sons) as, "Hat Guy". A sweet, gentle soul with an eager wave and genuine smile every time he would see my sons pass him on the way to their work. That wave, and that smile struck a chord in my sons that would never go away! Eventually, my sons's stopped to talk to this friendly individual and over the coarse of a few conversations, found out his real name...Tom. However, when sharing conversations they had with him...the nickname, "HatGuy" stuck. What was so sweet and profound was his caring and compassionate nature. He loves, and he listens... and you can feel that. My son naturally shared some struggles we were going through and Tom instantly said he would pray for us. This stranger was lifting us up in prayer? And I could feel those prayers going up to our Savior! And this was on more than one occasion. Oh, to have someone like this in our lives...such a blessing. Tom has such a wonderful reputation in our community as my son's eventually found out. They were so impressed with how many people knew him. This beautiful, unassuming, quiet, gentle friend. He brings out the best in us. Tom, I write this believing that your mother would have been so blessed knowing how much you mean to our family. We all experience struggles in our lives, but despite any struggles along the way, you found the strength to still pray and listen. Thank you for being such an important part of our lives. Through our friendship, you two have encouraged us in so many ways. We love you BOTH very much and pray that you will find comfort in each other, in the Lord, and in the friendships the Lord has blessed you with. KEEPING YOU IN PRAYER during this difficult time and Thanking the LORD for the sweet reputation of this wonderful woman. To have met your mother would have been such a joy! Stock Family
