Sally Gibbs

December 11, 1935 - February 19, 2024

Sally Joy Gibbs, age 88, passed away at her residence in St. Germain on Monday, February 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Chicago, IL on December 11, 1935 to George and Molly (Dietzel) Schroeder.  She was a graduate of Antioch High School, Class of 1954.  Sally also attended IBM Keypunch School in Chicago, IL.

On June 30, 1956, she was united in marriage to Lemuel James Gibbs.  He preceded her in death on September 2, 2001.

Sally was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.  In addition, she was a member of St. Germain Sayner Wildlife Club, Northern Retirees Club, Eagle River Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Martha Society.

She dedicated her life to being a homemaker and caring for her children.  After her children were raised, Sally worked as a plant clerk for H.A. Friend Company, until her retirement in 1996.

Sally served as a good example to many and personally helped many individuals by caring for them and driving them to their appointments.  She volunteered many hours as a Sunday School Teacher and working in the church kitchen for many occasions and always lending a helping hand to wildlife in the area.

She was many things to many people, a daughter, loving wife and mother, a supportive sister and aunt, caring grandmother and great-grandmother, a dear friend and kind neighbor.  Sally will be dearly missed by her children, Steven (Sara) Gibbs of Salem, WI and Martin (Patti) Gibbs of St. Germain, WI; her stepsons, Thomas Gibbs of Goose Creek, SC and Michael Gibbs of Denver, CO; her grandchildren, Jennifer Dreikosen, Rita (Jacob) Gretschmann, Rachel, Veda, Joseph and Luke Gibbs; her great grandchildren, Trinity Rae Davis, Kye Dreikosen, Rory, Anabel, Ellie, Charley-Kay and Duke Gretschmann; her step grandsons, Matthew Peters, Joshua and Jonathon Gibbs; and her sister, Nina Dean.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Sally was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Gibbs; her great granddaughter, Isabel Gretschmann and her siblings, George “Stuart” Schroeder, Margaret Salica and Nan Geil.
