Kathleen “Kathy” Carlson, died on Sunday, September 28, 2014, at the Hospice House after a valiant battle with cancer.
She was born in Saint Paul, MN, on January 26, 1937, the second child and only girl born to the late Leo and Laura (Waibel) Riordan.
Moving to Kenosha with her family in 1940, she attended St. Mary, St. Thomas, St. Mark and Lincoln Jr. High School and was a 1954 graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School. She graduated from UWM with a B.S. degree.
On December 26, 1961, she married Richard G. Carlson in Tacoma, WA while he was on active duty in the Wisconsin National Guard. They returned to Kenosha in 1962 and she began teaching at Washington Jr. High School while attending Carthage College at night to complete a teaching certification.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Richard; her two sons, Craig (Cassandra) of Salem and Kurt (Cindy) of McLean, VA; five grandchildren, Alexis, Gavin, Connor, Adam and Bryn; two brothers, John (Christine) and Jerry (Mary Lou) Riordan; three nieces and two nephews.
