Richard A. Meyer, age 86, of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Aurora Medical Center.
Born in Kenosha on May 24, 1928, he was the son of the late Henry and Margaret (Tennessen) Meyer. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, Richard was born, raised and lived in the same home his entire life.
Richard served in the U. S. Marine Corps. from 1946 until his honorable discharge in 1948.
On May 24, 1952, Richard was united in marriage to LaVerne M. Reid at St. Peter Catholic Church. They were blessed with three children and recently celebrated 62 years of marriage.
For 32 years, Richard was employed as a clerk with the Post Office in Kenosha, retiring in December of 1990.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Richard will be fondly remembered for carving peach pits into baskets, which he readily gave away to anyone he met.
Richard will be deeply missed by his wife, LaVerne; their three children, John R. (Elizabeth Tercek) Meyer, Mary M. Meyer and Theresa E. (David) Herr and his grandson, Jonathan D. Herr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Claude and Earl Meyer.
