Meyer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Richard A. Meyer, age 86, of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Aurora Medical Center.<br \/>\nBorn in Kenosha on May 24, 1928, he was the son of the late Henry and Margaret (Tennessen) Meyer.  A lifelong resident of Kenosha, Richard was born, raised and lived in the same home his entire life.<br \/>\nRichard served in the U. S. Marine Corps. from 1946 until his honorable discharge in 1948.<br \/>\nOn May 24, 1952, Richard was united in marriage to LaVerne M. Reid at St. Peter Catholic Church.  They were blessed with three children and recently celebrated 62 years of marriage.<br \/>\nFor 32 years, Richard was employed as a clerk with the Post Office in Kenosha, retiring in December of 1990.<br \/>\nHe was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.  Richard will be fondly remembered for carving peach pits into baskets, which he readily gave away to anyone he met.<br \/>\nRichard will be deeply missed by his wife, LaVerne; their three children, John R. (Elizabeth Tercek) Meyer, Mary M. Meyer and Theresa E. (David) Herr and his grandson, Jonathan D. Herr.<br \/>\nIn addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Claude and Earl Meyer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/piasecki-althaus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Richard-A.-Meyer.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">View Archived Condolences for Richard A. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 4804-7th Avenue.  Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for Mass.
