William A. Szymanski, age 94, of Kenosha, died on Monday, November 3, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Home and Rehab Center.
\nA lifelong resident of Kenosha, he was born on May 29, 1920, and was the son of the late Peter and Helen (Szarbajka) Szymanski.
\nBill honorably served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines, from December 9, 1941 until February 1, 1946. He proudly achieved the rank of Platoon Sergeant and received numerous commendations, including the American Defense Medal, American Theater, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one bronze star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, the WWII Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
\nOn August 14, 1948, he was united in marriage to Mary Dorothy White in Michigan. Sadly after 51 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on March 5, 2000.
\nFor over 42 years, Bill was employed with AMC\/Chrysler Corp., retiring in 1982 from their final repair department.
\nHe was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, P.L.A.V. James Smelcer Post #34, U.A.W. Local #72 Retirees and the Civilian Conservation Corps.
\nBill enjoyed spending time fishing and golfing.
\nHe is survived by his three daughters, Catherine A. (Frank) Gabron, Gail (Albert) Aiello and Judy (Rick) Bruns; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
\nIn addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Pete and Frank Szymanski
