Millie A. Gitzlaff, age 97, of Kenosha, died on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at UHS-Kenosha Campus.<\/p>\n
Born in Kenosha on November 16, 1918, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Millie (Brooks) Krause. She attended Frank Elementary School and was a 1937 graduate of Kenosha High school.<\/p>\n
On November 12, 1938, in Kenosha, she was united in marriage to Elmer R. Gitzlaff. Sadly, he preceded her in death on April 19, 1984.<\/p>\n
Millie was a life member of First United Methodist Church. She was also a member and past president of both the First United Methodist Women and the S.P.I. Class, the Kenosha Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 92, where she served her chapter as a past Worthy Matron. She was proud to be a member of the St. Mary\u2019s Friendly Center and worked as a hostess at the Kenosha Senior Citizen Center.<\/p>\n
When her children were young, she served as the President of the Roosevelt School PTA and served her community as a poll worker volunteer. Millie enjoyed reading, creating cross stitch, crocheting and knitting. She generously gave of her time and talent, knitting mittens and caps for children.<\/p>\n
Survivors include her two sons, Robert K. Gitzlaff and James A. Gitzlaff; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Krause and best friend, Debra Gitzlaff.<\/p>\n
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, William Gitzlaff; her grandson, Mark Gitzlaff; three brothers, Martin W., Carl H., and Albert K. Krause; and her sister, Lavina J. McGonegle.<\/p>\n

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 919-60th Street. Interment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
