Schroeder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-925\" src=\"http:\/\/piasecki-althaus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Schroeder-Dorothy-Young-Bride-Photo-194x300.jpg\" alt=\"Schroeder Dorothy Young Bride Photo\" width=\"194\" height=\"300\" \/>Dorothy A. \u201cDodo\u201d Schroeder, age 95 of Kenosha passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus.<\/p>\n<p>Born on May 14, 1921, in South Haven, Michigan, she was the oldest daughter of the late Clarence and Treva (Reynolds) White. She attended local schools and was a sophomore in high school when she needed to quit and help support the family.<\/p>\n<p>On April 11, 1942, she married Joseph J. Schroeder at St. George Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1994, after 51 years of marriage.<\/p>\n<p>She stated working as a live-in housekeeper at the age of 16; from there she worked as a dishwasher and became a waitress. When she was married, she worked at her husband\u2019s grocery store; Schroeder\u2019s Market, until 1969 and worked with her sister in law on Saturdays catering weddings. She also worked at Barden\u2019s clothing store for 18 years. She then worked for Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church rectory for 28 years as a housekeeper. She retired at the age of 86. She was appointed as an honorary member of the Augustinian Order for her dedication to the priests.<\/p>\n<p>Dorothy was a member of Circle and Star square dancing club, and she sewed her own square dancing dresses. She also enjoyed knitting, cooking and bowling. Dorothy loved to watch the Green Bay Packers and the Portland Timbers Soccer. She would attend all her grandchildren and great grandchildren activities and sports. In her spare time, Dorothy made baby hats for the maternity ward at the old St. Catherine\u2019s\u2019 and Aurora Hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are her two daughters, Diana L. \u201cPeachy\u201d Schroeder and Mary Kay (Steven) Ludwig; five grandchildren, Joshua Bower, Katherine (Jon) Hasselbrink, Megan (Nate Bradbury) Ludwig, all of Kenosha, Stephanie (Christopher) Siewert of Portland, OR and Joseph (Claire) Schroeder of New York, along with three great grandchildren, Payton and Gavin Hasselbrink and Alaina Bradbury.<\/p>\n<p>Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Schroeder; one brother, Lyle White and three sisters, Iola Andrews, Della Cantrell and Florence Caldwell.<\/p>\n<p>Dorothy\u2019s family would like to extend a special than you to the nurses and staff of Kenosha Hospital and Drs. Zaid, Cimoch, Gegenheimer, Mariani and Bloom for their kindness and compassion care that they gave Dorothy.<\/p>\n<h3>Informaci\u00f3n del servicio<\/h3>\n<p>Funeral services honoring the life of Dorothy will be held on Friday, Saturday, September 3, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2224 45th Street.
