She was educated in the schools of Kenosha and spent her entire life here. She married her first love, Ron Gregorski, on July 30, 1949. Coincidentally, they were born on the very same day. They were married 19 years. Together they had one son, David, who remained the greatest love of Virginia’s life until the day she died. She was a mom to many of David’s friends and always welcomed them in her home – she was considered to be the “cool” mom.

She was employed at Simmons Mattress Company and later worked as a nurses’ aid at St. Catherine’s Hospital. However, the best job offer she ever received was when her son David and his wife, Peggy, asked her to look after their children while they worked. Helping to raise her granddaughters, Laura and Kathleen, was always what she called “the greatest time” of her life. From searching for pussywillows to building blanket forts, her time as a grandmother was her true passion.

Her sister, Jean, was her confidant, best friend, and biggest supporter throughout her life. Despite a 13-year difference in age, their bond and understanding of one another only grew stronger as they got older.

Virginia also adored her “Grandsons” – her granddaughters’ husbands. Jared Tyunaitis and Peter Gehrig were Virginia’s “protectors” and always made her feel like the most important woman in the room. (Which was always true.)

While she enjoyed “looking ritzy” in her floral blouses and cocktail rings, Virginia truly enjoyed simple pleasures. She could often be found with a cup of tea (with milk!) watching the latest Real Housewives shows. She relished in the company of friends and family, loved to reminisce about “old times”, and was known for offering everything including the kitchen sink to visitors in her home. She was a member of St. George/St. Elizabeth Parish and was a proud supporter of St. Jude.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jessie Schultz. Virginia is survived by her sister Jean Mary Schultz, her son David Layne Gregorski and his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Gregorski (nee Wilk), and her grandchildren, Laura and Jared Tyunaitis and Kathleen and Peter Gehrig. She is further survived by her former husband Ron Gregorski, and many cousins and friends.

Virginia’s family wishes to extend a special thanks to the many people who helped to care for her over the years – especially “her girls” – both at home, at Sheridan Medical Complex, and at Kenosha Hospital. Your kindness means more to us than you will ever know.

Información del servicio

Funeral services honoring Virginia’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Ave., Kenosha, WI.
