Stanton, age 88 of Kenosha, died on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at United Hospital Systems-Kenosha Hospital Campus, surrounded by her loving family.<\/p>\n<p>Born on November 27, 1928 in Centerville, IA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ethel (Main) Houser.<br \/>\nShe attended schools in Centerville and received her degree in Education from Centerville Junior College.<\/p>\n<p>On September 16, 1951 in Iowa, she was united in marriage to Carlton Stanton.<\/p>\n<p>Dorthy was a dedicated wife and mother.  She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Kenosha Soup Kitchen.<\/p>\n<p>She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church.  Dorthy was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crocheting.<\/p>\n<p>Dorthy is survived by her husband of 65 years, Carlton Stanton; her four children, Deborah (Steve) Nelson, Kathryn (Paul) Mac Gillis, Stephen (Linda) Stanton and Karen (Dwayne) Eastman; her sister, Doris Columbus; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Madaline Sager and a brother in childhood.<\/p>\n<p><em>The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Stephen Feuerbach, Dr. Katherine Abbo, Dr. Joshua Bloom and Kenosha Hospital 3 Palmer Staff; especially Nurse Eileen for the exceptional care they provided.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>A Mother is Always With You<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street.<br \/>\nThe smell of certain foods you remember, flowers<br \/>\nthat you picked and perfume that you wore.<br \/>\nShe\u2019s the cool hand on your brow when you are not feeling well.<br \/>\nShe\u2019s the breath in the air on a cold Winters day.<br \/>\nShe is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the color of a rainbow.<br \/>\nShe is the Christmas morning.<br \/>\nYour mother lives inside your laughter and is crystalized in every tear drop.<br \/>\nA mother shows every emotion\u2026happiness, sadness, fear, jealousy,<br \/>\nlove, hate, anger, helplessness, excitement, joy, sorrow<br \/>\nand all the while hoping and praying you will know the good feelings in life,<br \/>\nthe place you came from, your first home, and she\u2019s<br \/>\nthe mom you follow with every step you take.<br \/>\nShe\u2019s your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy,<br \/>\nbut nothing on earth can separate you;<br \/>\n not time, not space, not even death!**<\/p>\n<h3>Informaci\u00f3n del servicio<\/h3>\n<p>In accordance with Dorthy\u2019s wishes, private Entombment will be held.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dorthy M.
