Johnson, age 81, of Somers died peacefully on Friday, July 21, 2017, at Hospice Alliance-Hospice House, Pleasant Prairie.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Stevenstown, WI on April 11, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Beatrice (Lovell) Baker. Myrtle was a graduate of Mindoro High School in LaCrosse.\u00a0 She continued her education and earned her Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Education from the LaCrosse Teacher\u2019s College (U.W.-La Crosse).<\/p>\n<p>On June 27, 1959, in Lewis Valley Church in LaCrosse County, she was united in marriage to LeRoy M. Johnson. After their marriage, they relocated to Somers, WI.<\/p>\n<p>Myrtle was a teacher for over 30 years.\u00a0 She began her teaching career in Chaseburg, WI.\u00a0 However, she spent a majority of her time working at Somers Elementary School.\u00a0 She started as an art teacher and retired in 1993 as a 6<sup>th<\/sup> grade teacher.<\/p>\n<p>Myrtle was a member of Somers Community United Church of Christ, where she served on several church committees. She was also a member of the Kenosha County Retired Educator\u2019s Association, the GFWC Women\u2019s Club of Kenosha, and the U.W. Parkside\u2019s Adventures in Lifelong Learning.\u00a0 In 1965, Myrtle helped organize the first Somers parade and was honored to be the parade marshal again on its 50<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Myrtle enjoyed the beauty of her flower garden, crafts, music, attending theater and loved to travel.<\/p>\n<p>Myrtle will be dearly missed by her husband of 58 years, LeRoy and her daughter, Julie (Tom) Harper.<\/p>\n<p>Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dawn Marie Johnson on May 23, 2017; her brothers, Marvin and Ernest Baker; her sisters, Margaret Frank and June Brown; her nephews, Billy Dick and Bruce Frank; her brother-in-law, Adolph Johnson; and her sister-in-law, Vivien Kamrowski.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Informaci\u00f3n del servicio<\/h3>\n<p>Funeral Services honoring Myrtle\u2019s life will be held on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Somers Community United Church of Christ, 9918 12th Street.
