Dorothy A. Olson, 94 of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Hospice Alliance., Inc., Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie.<\/p>\n
Dorothy was born in Kenosha on November 21, 1924 and was the oldest child of Robert F. and Anna C. (Frederick) Girsh.\u00a0 She attended St. George Catholic Grade School; graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School and early in her career she worked at MacWhyte Wire and Rope Company.<\/p>\n
On September 14, 1946 she married James W. Olson at St. George Catholic Church in Kenosha.\u00a0 He preceded her in death on May 4, 1979.<\/p>\n
A longtime member of St. Mark\u2019s Catholic Church; where she and her husband were very active in the Home and School, parish council, Christian women and other volunteer positions while their children attended \u00a0school there.\u00a0 Later in her life, Dorothy retuned to the workforce in an accounts receivable position at St. Joseph High School.\u00a0 She retired from St. Joe\u2019s in July of 1996. In her retirement years she immersed herself in the lives of her grandchildren whom she adored.\u00a0 She was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Wisconsin Badgers football and loved spending her weekends watching them.\u00a0 Like her mother, Dorothy had a love of providing her homemade baked good to her family and friends.\u00a0 Her grandchildren always looked forward to Nana\u2019s visit as she would appear with baked goods that usually always included her famous chocolate chip cookies.<\/p>\n
Dorothy is survived by her children, JoAnne Olson of Kenosha, Jim (Betsy) Olson of Elm Grove; grandson, Nicholas Olson and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Olson of Elm Grove and many nieces and nephews both in and out of Kenosha.<\/p>\n
Along with her parents and her husband, she is recently preceded in death by her brother and sister in law; Fred and Carole Girsh.<\/p>\n
The family wishes to thank Dr. Mattox and the nursing staff at Froedert South \u2013 Kenosha Medical Center Campus and the care givers at the Hospice House.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Funeral Services honoring the life of Dorothy will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, 1300 73rd Street, Kenosha.
