{"id":12987,"date":"2020-05-29T10:29:32","date_gmt":"2020-05-29T15:29:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kenoshafuneralhome.com\/obituary\/john-borkowski-jr\/"},"modified":"2020-05-29T10:29:32","modified_gmt":"2020-05-29T15:29:32","slug":"john-borkowski-jr","status":"publish","type":"obituary","link":"https:\/\/www.kenoshafuneralhome.com\/es\/obituary\/john-borkowski-jr\/","title":{"rendered":"John Borkowski, Jr."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>John \u201cSonny\u201d Borkowski, Jr., age 85 of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Froedtert South-Pleasant Prairie Campus.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Kenosha on April 29, 1935, he was the son of the late Stella (Michalek) and John Borkowski, Sr.<\/p>\n<p>He was employed for 25 years with ARA Vending, retiring in 1991.<\/p>\n<p>From August 27, 1954 until his honorable discharge from active service on May 26, 1958, John served our country in the United States Air Force. John achieved the rank of Sergeant and was proud of his \u201cPolish Apache\u201d call sign.<\/p>\n<p>John was united in marriage to Betty Vorlob at St. Casimir\u2019s Catholic Church. Although they later divorced; John and Betty remained the best of friends.<\/p>\n<p>He was a member of the former St. Casimir\u2019s Catholic Church and the P.L.A.V. James Smelcer Post #34. John also was an honorary member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, NRA, V.F.W. Junker-Ball Post #1865-Kenosha, and the Wounded Warriors.<\/p>\n<p>John enjoyed like to play a challenging game of cribbage and bingo, watching the Green Bay Packers, listening to a good Johnny Cash tune, gardening and in his younger years, HO trains.<\/p>\n<p>John is survived by two sons, Richard (Jeanette) Borkowski and Robert (Gilena) Borkowski; six grandchildren, Missy (Cody) McCawley, Brian (Kimberly) Borkowski, Andrea Borkowski, Alyssa Borkowski, Jesena Borkowski and Jenny Utterback; seven great grandchildren, Josh, Tyler, Christian, Monet, Laria, Serena and Aliyah; two great-great grandchildren, Arlia and Atreyu; a sister; Louise Greco and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Hardy; his former wife, Betty; and his grandson, Nicholas Borkowski<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Informaci\u00f3n del servicio<\/h3>\n<p>Funeral services honoring John\u2019s life will be held privately. Please contact a family member for further information. Private interment will be held in St. Casimir Cemetery.
