She moved from Hamilton, MS to Kenosha, WI.<\/p>\n<p>In 1951, she worked at the Racine County Home as a Practical Nurse, then at Glazers Sewing Factory as President of the Union, then worked and retired from American Motors as a Stewart and member of the UAW-Local 72. She was a past member of the Eastern Star, and she was a member of the Journey Church in Kenosha, WI for 60 years where she taught Sunday School for 30 years.<\/p>\n<p>Marvis married Leonard E. Wakefield in 1943 in Mississippi and he preceded her in death in 1993. Also, her son Gene Wakefield in 2012 and grandson Matt Wakefield in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>She is survived by 1 child, Linda (Bill) Carpenter, daughter-in-law, Kathy Wakefield; eight grandchildren, Scott (Michelle) Carpenter, Marie (Steve) Janiak, Laura Wakefield, Christine (Scotty) Wallent, eight great-grandchildren, Brianna Carpenter, Megan Janiak, Andrea Wallent, Lindsey (Angel) Torres, Nick Carpenter, Josh Janiak, Rebeccca Wallent and Samantha Wallent.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Informaci\u00f3n del servicio<\/h3>\n<p>Funeral services honoring Mavis\u2019s life will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Journey Church, 10700 75<sup>th<\/sup> Street, Kenosha WI.<\/p>\n<p>El entierro tendr\u00e1 lugar en Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.<\/p>\n<p>A visitation for Mavis will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.<\/p>\n<p>All are welcome to attend for those who are not able to attend, please refer to the Journey Church website for the livestream video.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mavis Wakefield, 93 of Pleasant Prairie, WI passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Froedtert Hospital in Kenosha, WI following a short illness.
