{"id":12346,"date":"2021-08-21T14:55:32","date_gmt":"2021-08-21T19:55:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kenoshafuneralhome.com\/obituary\/william-powers\/"},"modified":"2021-08-21T14:55:32","modified_gmt":"2021-08-21T19:55:32","slug":"william-powers","status":"publish","type":"obituary","link":"https:\/\/www.kenoshafuneralhome.com\/es\/obituary\/william-powers\/","title":{"rendered":"William Powers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>William Powers, age 98, passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021 at his residence.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Kenosha on September 23, 1922, he was the son of the late Fred and Helen (Blasi) Powers Zierk.\u00a0 He attended schools in Kenosha.<\/p>\n<p>William entered the Army Reserve Calvary in 1938 and enlisted in the Army in 1939 at the age of sixteen.\u00a0 He served in the 105<sup>th<\/sup> Horse Calvary with the 32<sup>nd<\/sup> Infantry Division.\u00a0 William served overseas in North Africa and Europe.\u00a0 He was decorated for Heroism in the Poe valley in Italy and received many medals.<\/p>\n<p>On November 29, 1947, he was united in marriage to Lorraine R. Kirkman.<\/p>\n<p>Bill was employed by the city of Kenosha Police Department for 27 years and retired as a Detective in 1982.\u00a0 He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with his wife to Europe, all the States and Canada.\u00a0 He also played semi pro football for the Kenosha Redskins and basketball and baseball for different leagues in the city.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his two sons, Thomas of California and Michael of Kenosha; three daughters, Patricia (Nyle) Hendricks, Karen (Thomas) Reau and Kathy Powers all of Kenosha; one granddaughter, Shauna and one great granddaughter, Indigo.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine.<\/p>\n<p><em>The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lisa, Elaine and Connor for the compassionate, kind, and loving care and helping us keep William wishes to keep him at home.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Informaci\u00f3n del servicio<\/h3>\n<p>A visitation honoring William\u2019s life will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with full military honors at 2:00 p.m. in All Saints Mausoleum.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to Hospice Alliance Inc.\/Hospice House, 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158 would be appreciated.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>William Powers, age 98, passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021 at his residence.
