{"id":12074,"date":"2022-02-04T00:37:41","date_gmt":"2022-02-04T06:37:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kenoshafuneralhome.com\/obituary\/doris-peterson\/"},"modified":"2022-02-04T00:37:41","modified_gmt":"2022-02-04T06:37:41","slug":"doris-peterson","status":"publish","type":"obituary","link":"https:\/\/www.kenoshafuneralhome.com\/es\/obituary\/doris-peterson\/","title":{"rendered":"Doris Peterson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Doris Elaine (Winnie) Peterson, 88, passed away in Kenosha, WI on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Froedtert Kenosha Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Doris was born in Chicago, IL on December 27, 1933 to Irving and Engeborg (Morset) Winnie.<\/p>\n<p>As a child, Doris enjoyed keeping up with her three older brothers\u2019 outdoor adventures and taking care of her little sister.\u00a0 After graduating from Calumet (IL) High School, Doris worked at Illinois Bell. She was active in her church, Elim Evangelical Free Church, where she met Robert Lee Peterson and love blossomed.\u00a0 They were married at the church in July, 1954.<\/p>\n<p>Between 1955 and 1970 the couple had 5 children: Leanne (Dan) Bilhorn of WI, Cynthia (Jeff) Cederlind of CA, Carey (Bob) Gordon of NC, Bryan (Laura) Peterson of PA and Julie (Mike) Rodriguez of WI.\u00a0 Before moving to Kenosha, Doris and Bob lived in Oak Lawn, IL for\u00a020 years and Upper St\u00a0Clair, PA for 40 years.<\/p>\n<p>Serving the Lord through her family and church was the foundation of her life. Through the years, she also enjoyed trying new activities including volleyball and synchronized swimming in high school, and tennis and bowling later in life. \u00a0She enjoyed creating a loving, fun, beautiful home, which included tending to her flower gardens and caring for the birds.<\/p>\n<p>Becoming a grandmother in 1979, Doris found her most beloved role as \u201cGrammy\u201d\u2014the name her entire family (and everyone she met!) would come to call her. Traveling throughout the U.S. to visit her children and their spouses, her 13 grandchildren (and their spouses), and her 16 great-grandchildren brought her profound joy. She continually gathered her ever-growing family for fun vacations and celebrations. Her legacy is her family, currently 45 strong\u2026 and growing.<\/p>\n<p>Doris is preceded in death by her mother and father, as well as her siblings Irving, David, and Shareen.
