Jon (Jay) Gerard Gyurina, 65 years old, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 in Kenosha, WI.<\/p>\n
He was born on December 25, 1957, in Kenosha, WI to Joyce (Miller) Gyurina and to the late John W. Gyurina in Kenosha, WI. Jay attended St. Anthony Catholic School and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School.\u00a0 He then attended U.W. Whitewater.<\/p>\n
On September 18, 1993, Jay married Jane M. Kopesky at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Kenosha, WI.\u00a0 They enjoyed traveling and especially going to the Kentucky Derby races.\u00a0 They also enjoyed hosting many get-togethers until Jane\u2019s untimely death in March 2017.<\/p>\n
In his teen years Jay was employed by the City of Kenosha County Parks.\u00a0 He worked for a time at McWhyte Manufacturing and later on was in management at Birchwood Foods.\u00a0 Jay retired from the Kenosha County Maintenance Service in 2017.<\/p>\n
Jay loved sports and was involved early in basketball, baseball, softball and hockey.\u00a0 You could hear him shouting \u201ca shot and a goal\u201d while practicing his hockey moves at home. \u00a0Jay never missed a Green Bay Packer game, was a U.W. Badger fan as well as the Milwaukee Brewers.<\/p>\n
Jay was interested in traveling, especially remembering the scenery and cultures of El Salvador, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Hawaii.\u00a0 He was honored to have treated his mom, Joyce to an Alaskan cruise.<\/p>\n
Jay enjoyed gardening and was especially proud of his chili and jalapeno peppers that he shared with his friends.\u00a0 Woodworking was one of his hobbies that kept him busy.\u00a0 The outdoor tables and benches he crafted were appreciated by many.<\/p>\n
Jay was known for spreading cheer with his great smile and caring ways.\u00a0 He was so kind and generous to everyone with whom he came in contract.\u00a0 Jay cherished the time he spent with his family, friends and especially his nieces and nephews.\u00a0 Jay always appreciated his lifelong friends, Jim C., Joe B. and Don M. who shared many years of great times together.<\/p>\n
Jay will be deeply missed by his mother, Joyce; sisters, Judy Hubbard, Jill Fulmer, Dr. Jana Gyurina-Bever; brothers, Dr. Jeff Gyurina and Joseph Gyurina.\u00a0 He is further survived by nephews, Jonathan Hubbard and Broc Fulmer; nieces, Rachel (Jason) Fort, Tayler (Avery) Burton, Sonoma and Simi Bever; great niece and nephew, Emelia and Emerson Fort; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Brad) Matthews, Peggy Guibault and Tina (Dito) Llanas, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.<\/p>\n
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jane; his father, John W. Gyurina, niece, Lauren A. Hubbard and his grandparents; father and mother-in-law Joe (Winnie) Kopesky.<\/p>\n

Funeral services honoring Jon\u2019s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the Piasecki Funeral Home.<\/p>\n
Inurnment will take place in St. George Cemetery.<\/p>\n
A visitation for Jon will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
