{"id":11346,"date":"2023-08-11T14:28:54","date_gmt":"2023-08-11T19:28:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kenoshafuneralhome.com\/obituary\/araxie-kalvonjian\/"},"modified":"2023-08-11T14:28:54","modified_gmt":"2023-08-11T19:28:54","slug":"araxie-kalvonjian","status":"publish","type":"obituary","link":"https:\/\/www.kenoshafuneralhome.com\/es\/obituary\/araxie-kalvonjian\/","title":{"rendered":"Araxie Kalvonjian"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Born on July 31, 1921, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Egysha and Siranush (Bogosian) Kalvonjian.\u00a0 She was educated in local schools; received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from UW-Madison and a master\u2019s degree in library sciences from the Dominican University in River Forest, IL.<\/p>\n<p>Araxie moved to New York in 1945 to work at Lederle Labs. She spent a few years in St. Petersburg, FL as a lab assistant with Pinellas County City Health Department. After a short time in Wadworth, WI with the U.S. Standard Products, she accepted a position with Dr. Benjamin Dugger, who discovered aureomycin. After returning to Kenosha in 1961, she received a degree in Library Science the worked at the Kenosha Public Library and Gateway Technical College libraries as a librarian. She retired in 1994.<\/p>\n<p>But no grass was going to grow under her feet!
