{"id":11185,"date":"2024-04-22T15:55:56","date_gmt":"2024-04-22T20:55:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kenoshafuneralhome.com\/obituary\/edsel-r-gill\/"},"modified":"2024-04-22T15:55:56","modified_gmt":"2024-04-22T20:55:56","slug":"edsel-r-gill","status":"publish","type":"obituary","link":"https:\/\/www.kenoshafuneralhome.com\/es\/obituary\/edsel-r-gill\/","title":{"rendered":"Edsel R Gill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Edsel Ray Gill, age 86, passed away at Hospice Alliance on Friday, April 19, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.<\/p>\n<p>Born on September 29, 1937 in Boynton, OK he was the son of the late Calvin and Nell (Thompson) Gill.\u00a0 He attended school in Oklahoma through high school.\u00a0 Edsel obtained a BA from Pittsburg State University in business administration in 1964.<\/p>\n<p>On December 8, 1967, he was united in marriage to Patricia (Long) Gill in Kansas City, KS.<\/p>\n<p>Ed enlisted in the US Navy on December 20, 1955 and achieved the rank of SM3.<\/p>\n<p>He was on the board of directors for the Kenosha Chamber of Commerce and the board of directors for the Kenosha Christmas Charities, INC. (Goodfellow).<\/p>\n<p>Ed was employed at Jockey International from 1967 until his retirement in 2009.\u00a0 He served the company as Senior Vice President.<\/p>\n<p>He was an avid fan of Kenosha Youth baseball and softball organizations, serving as coach for his daughter\u2019s team and later his grandson\u2019s team.\u00a0 He loved gardening and lawn work, walking and cheering on his favorite baseball and football teams.<\/p>\n<p>Ed is survived by his wife, Patricia J. Gill; children, Doreen (Bob) Bresnahan, Shelley (Steven) Kopczynski and Sam (Megan) Gill; grandchildren, Jay (Beth) Bresnahan, Rick (Lauren) Steinke, Jaime (Ryan) Siiro and Stephanie (Shaun) Mayfield; great grandchildren, McKenna and Declan Bresnahan; Ellie, Owen, Ty and Lainey Steinke and Harrison Siiro; sister, Judith (Dean) Keaton, sister-in-law, Marylou Gill and nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n<p>Ed is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jim and Ronnie Gill and an infant son.<\/p>\n<p>The family would like to express their gratitude to all the nurses, CNAs and staff at Brookside Care Center and Hospice Alliance.<\/p>\n<h3>Informaci\u00f3n del servicio<\/h3>\n<p>Memorial services with full military honors for Ed will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024 at the Piasecki Funeral Home, 3720 39th Ave, Kenosha, WI.<\/p>\n<p>Inurnment will take place in Southern Wisconsin Veteran\u2019s Memorial Cemetery at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>A gathering for Ed will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.<\/p>\n<p>The gathering may be viewed on Thursday April 25, 2024 via livestream on the following link <a href=\"http:\/\/facebook.com\/PiaseckiFuneralHome\/live\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">facebook.com\/PiaseckiFuneralHome\/live\/<\/a> beginning at 5:30 p.m.\u00a0 The service will be livestreamed using the link above on Friday April 26, 2024 beginning at 10:00 a.m.\u00a0 You do not need Facebook to watch.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stjude.org\/donate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.stjude.org\/donate<\/a> or Jockey Being Family, 2300 60<sup>th<\/sup> Street, Kenosha, WI 53140 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jockeybeingfamily.com\/donate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.jockeybeingfamily.com\/donate\/<\/a> or Hospice Alliance, 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hospicealliance.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.hospicealliance.org\/<\/a> ser\u00eda apreciado por la familia.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Edsel Ray Gill, age 86, passed away at Hospice Alliance on Friday, April 19, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
