It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sherrie Cadd, who left this world on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the age of 55. She was born on April 15, 1971, to David and Jeanette (Reineck) Otto. After graduating from Gateway Technical College with a degree in American Sign Language, she earned both state and national certifications as an ASL interpreter.

On June 23, 2018, Sherrie was united in marriage to David Hawkes.

Sherrie dedicated her career to serving the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. She worked as an American Sign Language interpreter for Kenosha Unified School District, helping Deaf and Hard of Hearing students communicate and thrive. She later worked as an independent ASL interpreter, providing interpreting services in schools, hospitals, courtrooms, and throughout the community. Her compassion, professionalism, and commitment to ensuring every voice was heard made a lasting impact on countless lives.

Above all else, Sherrie was devoted to her family. She never missed an opportunity to support her children, faithfully attending every game and proudly cheering them on from the sidelines. Her enthusiastic voice could always be heard above the crowd, making it easy for everyone to know exactly which athletes were her twins. She also enjoyed coaching T.J.'s basketball team, coaching Kaitlynn's softball team, and serving as Kaitlynn's Girl Scout leader, creating memories that her children and their friends will cherish forever.

Sherrie embraced life with contagious enthusiasm. She loved reading, telling jokes, and making people laugh. She found great joy in hosting elaborate celebrations, especially for Halloween, birthdays, and the holidays, always creating unforgettable gatherings for family and friends. She had a special appreciation for Harley-Davidson motorcycles, even though she never rode herself. She was an avid player of Word Stacks, proudly reaching an astonishing 490,000 levels, and she loved expressing herself through her many tattoos, each reflecting a piece of her unique personality.

Those who knew Sherrie will remember her vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and generous heart. She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel welcome, loved, and accepted. Her kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion to those she loved will leave an immeasurable void, but her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Sherrie is survived by her loving husband, David Hawkes; her beloved children, T.J. (Maddy) Cadd and Kaitlynn (Zach) Cadd-Rasmussen; her parents, David and Jeanette Otto; her brothers, David Otto II, John (Kelly) Otto, and Paul (Mindy) Otto; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Walter and Lorena Reineck; her paternal grandparents, Arnold and Hildegard Otto; her grandfather-in-law, Ronald Cain; and many beloved aunts and uncles.
