Sheila Patricia Porter of Kenosha, Wisconsin, a beloved mother, sister and grandmother, passed away on October 13, 2024, at the age of 83, surrounded by her loving family. Sheila was born on January 6, 1941, in Kenosha, where she spent her life dedicated to her family and her community.
She was a wonderful mother, sister, daughter, grandmother and foster mother of 50 children. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, spending time with her friends, working, cooking for the Girl Scouts and camp and meeting all her special friends along the way. “Once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout.” She was known for sending everyone special to her, birthday, anniversary, holiday and everyday cards.
Sheila leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion, survived by her children, Daniel (Chris) Porter, Linda Friedrich, Elizabeth McAlister, and Susan Porter; her grandchildren, Georgette (Jason) McIntosh, Nicholas Good, Amy Friedrich, Christine Friedrich, Melanie Friedrich, Jazmine McAlister, Synneva McAlister, Sheila McAlister, Bridgette (Miguel) Gordillo, Jaime Stripling, Azena Cichocki and Michael Cichocki; and her sister, Mary (Roger) Sepanski. Twenty-two great-grandchildren and two special foster children, Dannen (Manny) Yrique and Kevin George. Together, they will carry on her memory and the values she held dear: family, kindness, and service to others.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Sheila (Angell) Corr; her daughter, Patricia (Paul) Good; her grandchildren, Rhiannon Porter and Raymond Elijah McAlister; her son-in-law, Ronald Friedrich; her sister, Penelope (Jack) Schultz and her other guardian angel, Ann Connoly, the one she can now fly with.
Sheila's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, especially Pat Getschman, her guardian angel, and her memory will continue to inspire acts of kindness and service in the community she held dear. May she rest in eternal peace, her legacy shining brightly for all to see.

Kathy ColeI met Sheila while working at the Kenosha Girl Scout Council. She was always willing to jump in and help with my crazy ideas of alumni dinners, sing alongs, and camping trips to Camp Pottawatomie Hills. She was a great advocate for girls. I'll miss her chatty cards and letters. Sheila was a great friend.
