Ramona Dattilo, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, in Kenosha, WI.
Ramona Dattilo was born on November 6, 1929, in Milledgeville, Illinois, to Earl and Dorothy (Smith) Derr. The family moved to Jefferson, WI where she attended local schools, and graduated from Jefferson High. She then went on to Marvel Beauty School in Milwaukee, WI to become a beautician, where she met her husband Lorido Dattilo. The couple married in 1949 and had 4 children, Tina, Phillip, Dan, and Nick.
Ramona worked in her husband’s beauty shop, Hair Dressing by Larry, and raised her children. She was her happiest when she was surrounded by her family.
Throughout her life, Ramona found joy in sharing her creativity with those around her. In the 50’s and 60’s she created costumes and did hair and makeup for the performers at Kenosha Civic Theater and Kenosha Little Theater. She created many costumes for her son’s band, Class of ’62. She touched the hearts of many high school students at St. Joseph Catholic Academy, assisting Tina in creating costumes for the musicals from 2008-2016. She had the gift of perfectly placing ornaments on a Christmas tree, which she looked forward to doing with her family every year.
Ramona is survived by daughter, Tina Platt; sons, Nick (Kim) Dattilo and Dan (Janet) Dattilo; grandchildren, Nikki (Bob Junkel) Platt, Tony (Natalie) Platt, Kristina Schmidt, Danielle Dattilo, Gina (Angelo Guarino) Dattilo; great-grandchildren, Justin, Moriah, Bryson and Colton; niece, Karen Hering and nephew, Karl Hering.
Ramona is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Dorothy Derr; her husband, Lorido Dattilo; a son, Phillip Dattilo in infancy; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Louise and Jerome Marsden and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gloria and Bob Hering.
Ramona will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched with her love.

Bryson HollandRest in peace Mona, I'm Ramona's Great-grandchild and my grandpa is Nick dattilo and my mom is Danielle dattilo. She said to the family "I don't want to have a funeral" and I laughed and said to my mom "Why?" my mom said "I don't know but we will always love her" and I still agree to this day. Rest in peace Larry. Then there's Larry I've never met because he sadly past, my mom said he was a funny guy and not to be weird but he would go on the mower with my mom in his underwear! My grandpa:Nick and my uncle: Dan they both worked at a repair place for cars then my uncle then worked at a Gas station, My aunt: Tina worked at the hair place and cut hair. But recently Gina my aunt got married to Angleo (Noah) Gurinao and I was the ring barrer. But I'm metion in the article I'm Bryson Holland soon to be Dattilo.

JillMy mother was in a local nursing home for rehab a couple years ago. Although it was temporary, she became quite despondent over her situation. Mrs. Datillo was admitted for rehab also and would chat with my mom, who loved hearing about her life. Her daughter and son often came to visit and were very welcoming to having my mom join in their visits. They were all a bright light in my mother's life at the time and helped to keep her spirits up until she was able to leave. Mrs. Datillo was a lovely, kind woman, as were her children.
