With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael Lee Conklin on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at the age of 82. He was born on June 19, 1944, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to David and Naomi (Timke) Conklin.

A proud patriot, Michael served as a United States Navy Veteran holding the rank of BT2 aboard the USS Ernest G. Small during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Michael built a strong career centered around hard work and craftsmanship. He worked as a foreman at the Zion Power Plant and was a proud member of the Laborers' Union, lending his skills to a variety of concrete projects throughout his life and taking immense pride in a job well done.

Outside of work, Michael was an avid outdoorsman who cherished his time fishing and hunting, particularly in South Dakota. He also loved a good debate and a spirited game of cribbage with family and friends.

Michael is survived by his loving children, Mindy (Kevin) Dietz and Adam (Mandy) Conklin and his cherished grandchildren, James (Briona) and Rebecca Dietz and Liam and Ryleigh Conklin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Conklin.

Memorial services for Michael will be held privately at a later date.
