Michael E. Mortenson, age 63, died on Sunday, May 13, 2018, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Minneapolis, MN on January 20, 1955, to the late Edward and Dorothy (Karis) Mortenson.
On November 19, 1975 he married Kathleen Prybylski at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. They were blessed with three children and 37 years of marriage until Kathy passed away in 2012.
Michael was employed with the City of Kenosha as a Heavy Equipment Operator until his retirement in 2011.
Throughout his life, Michael was a car enthusiast, attending shows and swap meets along with fixing not only cars but bikes too. He was a handy man and the answer man. He was also a history buff and enjoyed antiquing. He loved watching his kids and grandkids play sports-cheering them on. The grandchildren were his world.
He will be forever missed and remembered by his children, Michael J. (fiancée Erica Ruffolo) Mortenson, Adam J. (Jennifer) Mortenson and Ellyn E. (Jereme) Arndt; his grandchildren, Michael, Ava, August Mortenson; Edward Mortenson and Marcos, Luci, Easton, Alvin and Charlie Arndt; his siblings, Mary (Ray) Castillo, Karen (Tony) Cline, Sandy (Todd) Herman, Jim Mortenson, Renae (Jeff) Johnson and Barb (Gregg) Jaeger along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services honoring Michael’s life will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue, Kenosha, WI. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

cindy hopewellMike was one of a kind...he truly loved his family and Kathy. I used to love watching him read the encylopedia...and nothing better than him and my mom watching the Packers. We love you, Mike and we are so sorry to all of the Mortensons. Mike came from a wonderful family, each and every one of them welcomed everyone and Mike was the same. You will be missed. Michael, Adam, and Ellyn, we love you dearly...
