
Joan H. Menges

Joan H. Menges, age 88 of Kenosha, left her loving family and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 13, 2015.
Born in Kenosha on May 5, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Ernest B. and Rowena (Skilbeck) Hess.
On September 11, 1948, she was united in marriage to Martin Menges. After 56 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on July 10, 2003.
Joan lived her life in service to Jesus. She was a charter member of Lakeshore Tabernacle and served her Lord in many capacities. Joan was the head of the Ladies Missionary Group, church bazaars, and was a funeral luncheon planner. Joan and her husband, Martin ran the Lord’s Storehouse, a food pantry, to benefit the church and the community.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-great grandmother and was a matriarch to many. She enjoyed crafting, quilting, crocheting, sewing, reading, gardening, canning and using her i-pad. Joan used her talents to make hats for cancer patients for several local hospitals and also made scarves, hats, and blankets for the homeless.
She is survived by her children, Jodi (Larry) Parrish, Randy (Cheri) Menges, Kelly (Larry) Rightler and Traci (Wayne) Alwardt; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Menges; her ten grandchildren, Connie, Jimmy, Janelle, Ben, Jamie, Joy, Wendy, Austin, Nick and Michelle; seventeen great grandchildren; her sister, Shirley Vlahovic of Mesa, AZ and her brother, Milt Hess of Windemere, FL.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, John in 1997 and James in infancy.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Joan’s life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at Lakeshore Tabernacle, 8900 34th Avenue.

Marlea FosterJoan was a great lady!! I remember making hats, with her and my aunt....playing scrabble and just laughing and enjoying her company. She was very generous to me and my family. I will miss her greatly.
