Ernest Joseph Kratowicz, age 90, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the Addison of Pleasant Prairie.
Born on May 15, 1927, in Kenosha, he is a son of the late Zygmund and Paulina (Bortko) Kratowicz. He attended St. Casimir grade school, graduated from Bradford High School Class of 1945 and attended the University of Wisconsin- Madison.
Ernie proudly served his country in the Army Air Force, active in 1945 as a Fire Chief of the Crash Crew until his honorable discharge in 1947.
On May 10, 1952 he married Sally Knapp at St. Casimir Catholic Church. They were blessed with 6 children and 65 years of marriage.
He worked for Camosy Construction as a concrete foreman for 32 years and was the owner of Two K Green House for 15 years.
Ernie was a life member of the former PLAV Post # 34, Knights of Columbus, the Moose Lodge #286 and a former board member of St. Joseph High School. He served 6 years as president of the Cement Masons- Local 237 and vice president for two years. He was in the mall walkers club and served at the Shalom Soup Kitchen for 20 years.
He enjoyed traveling, gambling in Las Vegas and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Survivors include his wife, Sally; his children, Timothy (Luann) Kratowicz, Kathleen (Fred) Saldana, Robert (Sue) Kratowicz, Karen Kratowicz, Janice (Jim) Pierangeli and James (Tammy) Kratowicz; 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and his sister Marianne Kratowicz.
Along with his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by his brothers, Chester and Frank.

A funeral service for Ernie will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will follow with military honors in St. Casimir Cemetery.

He was also a great friend to all those he worked with, especially his long lasting Camosy friends like us. Ernie was always fun to be with.
