Carol Edith (Nienhaus) Miller, age 83, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 2, 2023 at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
Carol was born December 2, 1939 in Waukegan, IL to parents Frank and Rose (Frederick) Nienhaus.
A close sister bond was formed between her and her only sibling Elaine which lasted their entire life. Carol and Elaine would both say they could have never asked for better parents and knew how much they were loved. They moved to their grandparents Fredericks farm in Somers, WI in 1945, and then to their own farm on Hwy 142 in 1950. She loved growing up on the farm, riding her pony to school, and driving tractors. Carol was a member of the 4-H Club, played trumpet, and sang in the church choir. She graduated valedictorian from St. Mary’s High School in 1957.
Carol met the love of her life, Donald Miller, at the wedding of Ed and Laverne Miller, Don’s brother. Their wedding date was moved up to April 11, 1959 due to Don being drafted into the Army. They wrote letters to each other every day during the two years that Don was in Okinawa. They were married nearly 53 years.
In high school, Carol worked as a waitress at Mars Cheese Castle. Upon graduation she took over for her sister as secretary to architect Lawrence Momberg and later worked for architects Wilson-Haney and Robert Kuen. She continued secretarial work for Seymour and Seymour CPA until 1984 when Carol and Don opened up their own business Donald B. Miller CPA until they retired in 2006. They were blessed by the many friendships made through business.
Carol enjoyed vacations with family, collecting Hallmark ornaments, decorating for Christmas, bowling, playing cards and dominoes. Most of all, Carol loved music, taking care of her children and grandchildren and spending time with friends and relatives.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Brian (Jan) Miller, Keith (Kimberly) Miller, Dawn (Sean) Dolan; her grandchildren, Kristin, Daniel, Luke, Zach, Matt, Brianna, Caitlyn, Kyle, and Ryan; five great grandchildren and her sister, Elaine Fliess.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by husband Don Miller.
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at Robin Way Assisted Living where Carol spent her last two years and to the Hospice Alliance staff who both gave tremendous care.

Sean DolanMom...you were very important in all of our lives. A selfless mom, grandma, and to me...the greatest mother in law a person could ever ask for. You welcomed me into your heart and family, allowed me to marry your little girl, and trusted me with your care for many years. There are not enough words to explain how much you meant to our entire family. You helped raise our three kids...who love you very much. I enjoyed every meal you made me... EXCEPT that first baked potato at my first meal at your house. Every meal that had a baked potato being served...you would serve me Cheetos and I was so thankful!! Mom, you will be missed but NEVER forgotten. I only hope I can be as good as a father in law as you were as a mother in law. Mom...I love you, Sean
