Amanda Lauren Cecchi, age 13, of Kenosha, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, following a courageous 10 month battle with a rare form of ovarian cancer.
Born on November 27, 2001, in Lake Forest, IL, she was the first born daughter of Steven and Kimberly (Quentin) Cecchi. Moving to Kenosha when Amanda was an infant, she attended Nash Elementary School and was currently attending Mahone Middle School.
Amanda and her family are members at St. Mary Catholic Church. She was a blooming artist and won several awards for her drawings and sketches, some were even judged on the state level. Amanda attended the after school art club at Mahone school, she was taking piano lessons and was a passionate animal lover, holding a special place in her heart for cats. Her favorite things to do were watching cartoons with her sister, riding her scooter, jumping on the trampoline, swimming, visiting the petting zoo and taking vacations with her family anywhere warm and sunny with sandy beaches.
After receiving the devastating news in July 2014, Amanda always kept a positive attitude and never lost her ability to smile. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion and her quiet and generous spirit.
Amanda will be deeply missed by her loving parents, Steve and Kim Cecchi; her sister and best friend, Alyssa Marie Cecchi; her maternal grandparents, Robert and Darlene Koch; paternal grandparents, Cathie and Lorenzo Cecchi; maternal grandfather, Larry Quentin and maternal step great-grandmother, Florence Koch. She is further survived by her aunts and uncles, John and Kathy Lange, Kris Johnson, Carrie and Brian Cecchi; cousins, Megan, Courtney and Devin Lange, Sadie and Jacob Johnson, Kacie, Beau and Abby Cecchi; several great aunts, uncles, second cousins, other relatives and countless friends.

A Mass of the Angels will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church (74th Street and 39th Avenue). Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for the Mass. Private interment will be held in Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.

Maria Zarletti RognstadMy Deepest Sympathy to your entire family. My heart hurt and chills overcame me, when I heard about Amanda, from my Dad. I too lost my youngest daughter in 2002 to a rare Ovarian Cancer, at the age of 21. Amanda will be missed, but never forgotten and may time comfort you.

Our daughter Emily was diagnosed with ovarian cancer on July 19, 2002 - 10 days before her 24th birthday. She died on March 10, 2003. My child had Leukemia and survived so my heart ached to see this write-up. Such a beautiful sweet girl. I know you will miss her always. I will pray for you through this terribly difficult time.
